Painless Podiatry
Podiatry / Chiropody can be used to effectively manage many painful conditions such as Ingrown Toenails, Verrucae and deep painful corns. However some people are put off because these treatments are often uncomfortable or even painful.
At Footprints we have found several ways to reduce, or even eliminate this problem
Local anaesthetic. Most people, when they go to the dentist, expect a local anaesthetic injection to remove pain. Most Podiatrists are qualified in the delivery of local anaesthetic, however few offer it to their patients for everyday treatments. We do, and we have years of experience in the routine use of Anaesthetics.
Cryogesia. At Footprints we routinely use cryo-therapy to reduce pain. This can be applied directly to a lesion (like a corn) prior to removing it or used as a pre operative application before a local anaesthetic injection to reduce even that small sting!
Clinical Hypnosis. The World Health Organisation estimates that over 90% of people can be effectively hypnotised. Hypnosis, in various forms, has been used to reduce painful surgical procedures for hundreds or even thousands of years. In modern times, even major surgery has been carried out with nothing more than hypnosis for pain relief yet this remarkable method is seldom used for “minor” procedures. Modern Hypnosis is quick, easy, and very effective in controlling pain and nerves either by itself or as an adjunct to other methods.
